BEIJING (Web Desk): Bilibili has launched its international video platform, giving users outside China access to a service designed to compete with major platforms such as YouTube.

The Bilibili global launch is currently available to Android users through the Google Play Store. The company is also expected to bring the service to iPhone users soon.

The move marks an important step for Bilibili international, as the company looks to build a larger audience outside its home market.

What is Bilibili?

Bilibili is a popular Chinese video-sharing platform that allows users to upload videos, watch content and livestream. The Bilibili video platform has become especially popular with younger audiences.

The service has a strong focus on entertainment, gaming, anime and other content that appeals to Gen Z users.

With the new Bilibili app, international viewers will get access to a similar experience. The company hopes its youth-focused content will help it attract users in new markets.

Bilibili takes on YouTube

The global expansion could make Bilibili YouTube rival a more common description of the platform as it enters international markets.

Like YouTube, Bilibili allows creators to upload videos and interact with viewers. It also supports livestreaming and community features.

The company is hoping that its focus on younger viewers will help the Bilibili YouTube rival stand out in a crowded global streaming market.

Focus on Gen Z users

The Bilibili Gen Z audience is one of the platform’s biggest strengths. The service has developed a large community around anime, gaming, music and online entertainment.

The international version is expected to continue targeting this audience. The company wants to make it easier for young viewers and creators around the world to discover and share content.

The growth of China video streaming platforms could also increase competition in the international digital entertainment market.

Android launch comes first

The Bilibili Android app is already available through Google Play in supported markets.

The company is expected to introduce the Bilibili iOS app soon, which would allow more smartphone users to access the service.

The launch of the Bilibili app could help the company build an international community before expanding its services further.

What happens next?

The Bilibili global launch is still in its early stages. The company will need to attract international creators and provide content that appeals to viewers outside China.

The success of Bilibili international will depend on how quickly the platform can grow its user base and compete with established services.

Canada wanted favourable tariff terms for light-duty vehicles to also cover medium and heavy-duty trucks. The US reportedly opposed the request.

Carney said Canadian-made models could become less competitive if the proposed terms were introduced.
