A similar issue has been reported with Instagram and other applications as well.
The problem has come as a nuisance to people in different parts of the country where major cities like Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad and Karachi have reported most of the cases in the last 24 hours.
Many users have reported the problem on social media, stating that WhatsApp media files such as video, audio and images are not being processed or loaded normally.
Some have said that they are forced to use virtual private networks (VPNs) to send voice notes and media files.
Meanwhile, several other users have reported that WhatsApp is working smoothly and they have not faced any issues so far.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has not released any explanation as to why the problem persists for so many users in Pakistan.
