‘PTA taxes’ up for Samsung Galaxy S23 series in Pakistan - New rates inside
“PTA taxes” for importing older and used mobile phones in Pakistan have increased for a few brands, including Samsung, OnePlus, Apple, and Google. This increase comes after the Federal Board of Revenue raised the custom values used to calculate taxes.
The overall trend shows that PTA taxes have gone up across all Samsung Galaxy S23 models. Whether registering on CNIC or passport, users now have to pay noticeably higher amounts than before.
For Samsung Galaxy S23, CNIC tax increased from Rs19,200 to Rs29,100 while passport tax rose from Rs17,240 to Rs26,600. This means users are now paying around Rs9,000 to Rs10,000 more than earlier.
For Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus, CNIC tax jumped from Rs20,200 to Rs29,570 and passport tax increased from Rs18,200 to Rs27,100. This model also saw a strong rise of nearly Rs9,000 in overall taxes.

For Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, CNIC tax increased from Rs29,300 to Rs31,830 while passport tax went from Rs26,850 to Rs29,370. The increase here is smaller compared to other models, around Rs2,500 to Rs3,000.
All models saw an increase in taxes and none experienced any reduction. CNIC-based taxes remain higher than passport-based taxes in both old and new rates.
Along with taxes, custom values have also increased significantly for all models. This change has directly impacted the final cost of importing these smartphones.
Samsung Galaxy S23 custom value increased from $140 to $250, showing a sharp rise of $110. Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus value moved from $160 to $260, while Ultra increased from $255 to $305.
The highest jump in custom value is seen in the base S23 model, while the lowest increase is for the Ultra variant. Base and Plus models faced steeper increases compared to the Ultra version.
