The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has updated its device registration policy, confirming that owners of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra must pay Rs. 8,787 to get their phone’s IMEI approved when purchasing the device on an installment plan.
Under PTA’s existing system, mobile phones must be registered on the national database before they can connect to local networks.
This applies to both fully paid devices and those bought through monthly installments from authorized sellers or carriers.
If the fee is not paid within the stipulated timeframe, a phone’s IMEI may be blocked, preventing calls, messages and internet access.
According to the new update, users buying a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra through instalments will now see the Rs. 8,787 fee added to their registration process.
This fee covers the PTA’s regulatory cost and ensures the device complies with local telecom standards. The decision comes as flagship devices become increasingly popular in Pakistan, with the S24 Ultra among the most sought‑after premium smartphones.

Buyers are advised to pay the PTA fee soon after purchase to avoid connectivity issues. The payment can be made via EasyPaisa, JazzCash, or other approved mobile apps and banking methods linked to PTA’s Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS). Once the fee is paid and IMEI approved, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will function normally on all local carriers.
