(Web Desk): Apple is preparing to launch its first foldable iPhone in September 2026, under the code-name “V68”. The device, likely to be priced Rs558,000 ($2,000), is already creating curiosity among the smartphone lovers.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple’s foldable will feature four cameras – one on the front, two on the back, and one inside. It will also come only in black and white colors, drop Face ID in favor of Touch ID, and eliminate the SIM card slot completely.

Tech influencers believe this could be a turning point for Apple. Jon Rettinger said, “On the Apple side of the fence, it’s just been, ‘What size rectangle do you want?’ I’m beyond excited about the foldable space.” He praised Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 as nearly perfect but suggested Apple’s entry could shake the market.

Apple is reportedly addressing one of the biggest foldable phone complaints — the visible crease. The company will use an in-cell touchscreen instead of on-cell sensors, aiming for better touch accuracy and reduced creasing.

The foldable will also debut Apple’s first C2 modem, offering performance close to Qualcomm’s latest chips. Influencer Austin Evans expressed excitement, saying he hopes Apple enables an iPad-like mode with Pencil support when the device is unfolded.

Apple’s silence on the subject has only fueled speculation, with many asking whether this $2,000 gamble will disrupt the smartphone market or struggle against Samsung and Huawei, who already dominate the foldable segment.

Apple’s entry into the foldable phone race comes years after rivals Samsung and Huawei. This delay means the market is already mature, leaving Apple very little room for mistakes. The rumored Rs558,000 ($2,000) price tag adds even more pressure, as buyers will expect a flawless device.

By focusing on crease-free screen technology, stronger chip performance, and potential iPad-like functionality, Apple is trying to differentiate itself. If it succeeds, the foldable iPhone could redefine premium smartphones and create a new wave of demand. If it fails, critics may call it Apple’s most expensive experiment.
