Meta to train 1,000 Pakistani SMEs in AI and digital skills

Pakistan has invited Meta to expand its role in the country’s digital economy by increasing cooperation in artificial intelligence, business development, and Pakistan's digital skills programmes.

The move is expected to help more entrepreneurs prepare for a technology-driven future.

The announcement came during a meeting between Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and a Meta delegation led by Asia-Pacific Public Policy representative Tehara Punchihewa and Policy Programs Manager Vivian Liang.

During the meeting, the minister welcomed the Meta AI training Pakistan initiative under the Meta Small Business Growth Academy.

The programme will provide free AI training Pakistan to 1,000 Pakistani SMEs from August to November 2026.

The training programme will be delivered by local technology partner AtomCamp through online and in-person sessions across the country.

Officials said the project will improve Pakistan's digital skills, strengthen digital marketing knowledge, increase market access, and support women-led businesses as well as companies operating in smaller cities.

Jam Kamal Khan said digital transformation is a key priority for the government. He added that Pakistan is finalizing a new e-commerce policy and preparing a national AI policy to promote innovation and strengthen the country's technology sector.

The minister explained that artificial intelligence should be used for much more than chatbots.

He said AI training Pakistan can help improve business intelligence, policymaking, public services, and data-driven decision-making across different industries.

He also encouraged Meta to work with the Directorate General of Trade Organizations (DGTO), chambers of commerce, and trade associations to ensure the Meta Small Business Growth Academy reaches more businesses.

According to the minister, expanding Pakistan digital skills will improve business competitiveness and encourage innovation nationwide.

Officials believe the Meta AI training Pakistan programme will help 1,000 Pakistani SMEs adopt modern AI tools, improve online business strategies, and compete in local and international markets.

They also expect the Meta Small Business Growth Academy to become an important step toward building stronger Pakistan digital skills while expanding access to AI training Pakistan.
