It was Islamabad’s second win of the season, while Peshawar slumped to their second straight defeat.
Islamabad United opted to bat first against Peshawar Zalmi, and posted a mammoth total of 243 for 5. The standout of the innings was Sahibzada Farhan, who dazzled with a blistering 106 off just 52 deliveries.
Chasing a daunting target, Peshawar Zalmi went under pressure and were bundled out for just 141 runs. Eight of their batters failed to reach double figure.
Mohammad Haris was the lone warrior for Zalmi, crafting a valiant 87, but his effort was not enough to keep his side in the game.
Following the heavy defeat, Zalmi skipper Babar Azam admitted to shortcomings in execution and stressed the need for quick improvement.
“We couldn’t execute our plans properly. Chasing a big total brings pressure, but we still have a lot of matches left. We’ll work on our flaws and aim to bounce back,” he said.
Babar expressed confidence in the team’s ability to recover and deliver stronger performances in the upcoming games.
