(Web Desk): Cristiano Ronaldo believes FIFA helped Lionel Messi Messi-led Argentina reach World Cup final, according to a social media reaction.

Cristiano Ronaldo has once again found himself at the centre of football discussions after reportedly liking an Instagram video about Lionel Messi and Argentina. The social media activity quickly attracted attention from fans around the world.

According to reports, Ronaldo liked a video shared by the Instagram account @espejopublico. The video claimed that FIFA favoured Argentina during the 2026 FIFA World Cup and helped the team reach the final.

The allegations have added to existing debates surrounding some decisions made during the tournament. One of the most discussed incidents was a disallowed goal for Egypt in the Round of 16, which led to criticism from some football fans.

Argentina eventually reached the World Cup final but lost 1-0 to Spain after extra time. The match ended with tense moments as players from both teams became involved in clashes after the final whistle.

FIFA has opened a disciplinary investigation into the post-match incident. The investigation could lead to suspensions or fines for the Argentine Football Association if any violations are confirmed.

Ronaldo’s own World Cup journey ended earlier after Portugal lost to Spain in the Round of 16. The defeat marked the end of what the Portuguese star said was his sixth and final FIFA World Cup appearance.

“I’m sad to leave the World Cup this way,” Ronaldo told reporters after Portugal’s elimination. He added, “I gave it my all, and I leave with a clear conscience. That’s the life of a footballer. You have to move forward. It was my last World Cup, yes. But as for the rest, there’s time to think, to be with my family, and not say things in the heat of the moment.”

At 41, Ronaldo became the oldest player to appear in a match during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon, who is 43, was the oldest player named in the tournament but did not play.

Meanwhile, questions have also emerged about Lionel Messi’s international future. By the time the 2030 FIFA World Cup takes place, Messi will be 43 years old, making his participation uncertain.

The latest social media activity has once again highlighted the long-standing rivalry between Ronaldo and Messi. Fans continue to closely watch every development involving the two football legends.

Social media actions by famous athletes often create major discussions, even without official statements. Until Ronaldo comments publicly, the meaning behind the reported Instagram ‘like’ will remain open to interpretation, while FIFA’s investigation continues separately.
