Chelsea looked calm and focused despite recent struggles. The team had won only once in their last nine league matches, mostly under former coach Enzo Maresca, who left on January 1. Rosenior watched as Brentford created chances but failed to take them.
The breakthrough came in the 26th minute when Joao Pedro turned sharply and smashed a powerful shot into the top corner, leaving goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher with no chance. The goal lifted the home crowd and settled Chelsea’s nerves.

Chelsea sealed the result late in the game. In the 76th minute, Kelleher failed to control the ball and tripped substitute Liam Delap. Cole Palmer calmly converted the penalty to double the lead.
Brentford will feel frustrated after missing several clear opportunities. Kevin Schade wasted a golden chance in the first half by trying to pass instead of shooting, while Mathias Jensen struck the post from close range.
Early in the second half, Schade again went close when he was through on goal, but Chelsea keeper Robert Sanchez stretched out a foot to divert the ball wide.
The win moved Chelsea up to sixth place in the Premier League table, pushing Brentford down after their six-game unbeaten run came to an end.

Brentford coach Keith Andrews admitted his side lacked sharpness in front of goal. “We just weren’t clinical enough with the chances we had,” he told the BBC, while praising his team’s overall performance and progress.
