Web Desk: Argentina fans have called for World Cup 2026 final replay as thousands of fans signed an online petition following the Argentina World Cup final defeat.

The petition was launched on Change.org after the Argentina vs Spain final, where Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 in extra time through Ferran Torres’ winning goal.

Supporters are demanding a 2026 World Cup final replay, claiming the referee made controversial decisions during the FIFA World Cup final.

The World Cup replay petition accuses Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic of favoring Spain with several key decisions.

Fans believe the referee influenced the outcome of the Argentina vs Spain final and are asking FIFA to review the match. However, the campaign relies mainly on social media videos and does not provide verified evidence.

Although the World Cup replay petition has attracted more than 80,000 signatures, FIFA rules make a 2026 World Cup final replay extremely unlikely.

According to tournament regulations, a replay is only possible in exceptional situations involving serious violations of competition rules. An online petition cannot overturn the official result of the FIFA World Cup final.

This is not the first time fans have demanded another final. After the 2022 FIFA World Cup, French supporters also launched a similar campaign asking for a replay. Like the current World Cup replay petition, it had no effect on the tournament outcome.

Meanwhile, the FIFA investigation is moving forward, but it is focused on incidents after the Argentina World Cup final, not on the referee’s decisions.

FIFA has appointed disciplinary officials to examine clashes between players after the match.

Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes is among those being reviewed after videos appeared to show him grabbing Eric Garcia and pushing Gavi during Spain’s celebrations.

The FIFA investigation is also examining the actions of Nahuel Molina and Argentina assistant coach Roberto Ayala.

Officials are further reviewing the behavior of several Argentina players during the trophy presentation, where some turned their backs while Spain celebrated.

FIFA says the FIFA investigation will continue until all incidents from the FIFA World Cup final have been fully reviewed.

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni urged fans and players to respect both victory and defeat after the Argentina World Cup final.

However, despite the growing calls for a 2026 World Cup final replay, FIFA has given no indication that the result of the Argentina vs Spain final will change.
