Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted at a possible departure from Al Nassr, suggesting the end of his stint with the Saudi club following the conclusion of the Saudi Pro League season. In a social media post featuring a photo of himself in the club s kit, the 40-year-old Portuguese star wrote, “This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all.” Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in 2022 after leaving Manchester United, and his contract is set to expire this summer.

Despite finishing as the top goal scorer in the league with 24 goals, Ronaldo’s side had a mixed season. Al Nassr fell short in the Asian Champions League, being eliminated in the semi-finals by Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale, and ended the domestic league in third place. While there were earlier suggestions from Ronaldo that he might retire at Al Nassr, his recent comments imply a possible change of direction.
As the summer approaches, a special transfer window will open from June 1 to 10, allowing the 32 clubs participating in the FIFA Club World Cup to sign new players. Although Al Nassr is not among those clubs, their Saudi rivals Al Hilal will feature in the tournament. The expanded Club World Cup is scheduled to take place in the United States commencing June 14.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino recently sparked speculation about Ronaldo’s involvement in the Club World Cup. In a conversation with popular YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed, Infantino confirmed ongoing discussions and hinted that Ronaldo might join one of the participating clubs. He added, “If any club is watching and is interested in hiring Ronaldo for the Club World Cup... who knows, who knows.”
While nothing is confirmed yet, Ronaldo’s cryptic message, combined with his contract status and Infantino’s comments, suggests that the football icon could be preparing for one final move—possibly to feature on the world stage once again. Meanwhile, his longtime rival Lionel Messi is already confirmed to play in the tournament with Inter Miami.
