PCB to observe Breast Cancer Awareness Day during Pakistan v England ODI in Lahore
The PCB has dedicated the fourth One-Day International of the tri-series involving Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka to breast cancer awareness.
The match between Pakistan and England will take place at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday, October 25, as part of the PCB’s corporate social responsibility initiatives. The campaign is being organised during Pinktober, an international awareness campaign held in October to highlight breast cancer.
It aims to encourage people to learn more about the disease, understand the importance of early detection and seek medical advice when needed. The PCB is working with Pink Ribbon to use cricket’s popularity to spread these messages among fans across Pakistan and beyond.
Pakistan team to wear specially designed pink kits
One of the main features of the campaign will be the Pakistan men’s cricket team wearing specially designed pink kits during the match. The initiative aims to show support for people affected by breast cancer, including patients and survivors.
England’s players, match officials and commentators will also be invited to wear pink ribbons in support of the campaign.
These special arrangements will give the match a distinct look while keeping the focus on breast cancer awareness. The PCB hopes that the participation of players and other cricket figures will help spread the message to a wider audience.
Pink stumps and awareness messages planned
The campaign will also feature pink-branded stumps during the Pakistan-England match. Breast cancer awareness messages and campaign visuals will be displayed on the stadium’s large screens and LED perimeter boards throughout the match.
Commentators will also share awareness messages during the live broadcast, allowing viewers at home to learn more about the campaign.
The PCB will release special digital content ahead of the match. Pakistan players will feature in video messages encouraging people to pay attention to breast health and understand the importance of early detection.
The board will also use its official social media platforms to promote the campaign and share information with cricket fans.
Pink Ribbon activities to begin before the match
Special Pink Ribbon activities at Gaddafi Stadium will begin two hours before the match. These activities will engage spectators and highlight the importance of breast cancer awareness, early diagnosis and support for people affected by the disease.
The campaign aims to reach spectators at the stadium as well as a wider audience through television coverage and digital platforms. The PCB says the initiative reflects its commitment to using cricket’s popularity to promote public awareness and support social causes.
Pink-themed merchandise planned for fans
The PCB is also introducing limited-edition pink-themed merchandise as part of the campaign. The items will include travel polo shirts and fan shirts, giving supporters another way to take part in the initiative.
According to the board, the merchandise will be available through its official retail store and online platforms.

The shirts are intended to extend the campaign beyond the stadium and encourage fans to show their support for breast cancer awareness. The merchandise is part of a wider effort that includes activities at the ground, digital promotions and awareness messages during the match broadcast.
Free screening planned through Pink Ribbon
The campaign will also include a healthcare initiative for fans.
According to the PCB, free breast cancer screening will be available at Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Trust Hospital in Lahore on October 24 and October 26. The initiative aims to connect public awareness with access to healthcare services.
People interested in using the service should confirm the arrangements and any appointment requirements directly with the hospital before visiting. Pink Ribbon works to promote breast cancer awareness and encourage early detection. Its programmes also aim to help people learn about available screening and treatment services.
Why breast cancer awareness matters
Breast cancer awareness campaigns encourage people to learn about breast health and seek medical advice if they notice unusual changes. Early detection and timely medical assessment can help identify the disease sooner and allow healthcare professionals to discuss suitable treatment options.
Screening recommendations can vary depending on a person’s age, medical history, and individual risk. People should consult qualified healthcare professionals for advice suited to their circumstances.
Public awareness campaigns can also help make information about screening and treatment easier to access and encourage more open discussions about breast health. By linking the campaign to an international cricket match, the PCB hopes to reach people who may not otherwise encounter breast cancer awareness messages.
Cricket provides a platform for public awareness
Cricket attracts large audiences in Pakistan, making major matches an opportunity to share messages beyond the sport itself. The PCB’s Pink Ribbon campaign will combine player participation, stadium displays, broadcast messages and digital promotions to spread awareness.
The Pakistan-England match on October 25 will therefore serve two purposes: continuing the ODI tri-series and drawing attention to breast cancer awareness. The campaign also aims to encourage fans to share its message with their families and communities.
