PCB pays heartfelt tribute as Chacha Cricket prepares to retire
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has paid a special tribute to legendary cricket supporter Chaudhry Abdul Jalil, popularly known as “Chacha Cricket”, as he prepares to end his long association with Pakistan cricket following the final ODI against Australia at Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday.
To mark the occasion, the PCB shared a heartfelt tribute featuring Chacha Cricket, along with a collection of memorable photographs from his years of supporting the national team. The board thanked him for his dedication, loyalty, and passion for Pakistan cricket.
The PCB described Chacha Cricket as much more than an ordinary fan, saying his unwavering support has inspired players and supporters alike for decades. The board acknowledged his unique contribution to Pakistan cricket and his role in strengthening the bond between fans and the national team.
Chacha Cricket has been a familiar presence at Pakistan matches for nearly 40 years and is widely regarded as one of the most recognizable supporters in international cricket.

His journey began in the 1980s in Sharjah, where Pakistan regularly played its home matches. In 1996, he officially became associated with the PCB as the team’s mascot and continued representing the spirit of Pakistan cricket at stadiums around the world.
Known for his extraordinary commitment, Chacha Cricket reportedly made significant personal sacrifices to follow the national team. He is said to have left a well-paying job in the United Arab Emirates and even sold personal belongings to continue supporting Pakistan cricket across different countries.
Born in Sialkot on October 8, 1949, Chacha Cricket became instantly recognizable because of his trademark green outfit, flowing white beard, and distinctive cap featuring Pakistan’s crescent and star. Over the years, he has become a symbol of loyalty, passion, and resilience, standing beside the national team through both triumphs and difficult moments while earning admiration from cricket fans around the world.
