Pakistan’s opening batter Sahibzada Farhan has achieved a major milestone by winning the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for February 2026. His outstanding performance in the T20 World Cup held in Sri Lanka played a key role in earning him this recognition.
Farhan emerged as the top run-scorer of the tournament. He scored a massive 383 runs in just seven matches, maintaining an impressive average of 76.60. His brilliant run included two centuries and two half-centuries, making him one of the standout players of the event.

The right-handed batter also showed aggressive intent with a strike rate of 160.25. During the tournament, he broke a long-standing record held by Virat Kohli for the most runs in a single edition of the T20 World Cup, marking a historic achievement in his career.
This is the first time Sahibzada Farhan has received a monthly ICC award. He also became the first male cricketer from Pakistan to win this award since Haris Rauf, who last received it in November 2024.
Farhan made further history by becoming the first batter to score two centuries in a single T20 World Cup. He reached three figures against Namibia and Sri Lanka, showing consistency and dominance against different teams.
In one of the most memorable moments, Farhan shared a record 176-run partnership with Fakhar Zaman. This became the highest partnership for any wicket in T20 International history.
Despite Farhan’s exceptional performance, Pakistan could not reach the semi-finals. The team defeated Sri Lanka by five runs in a crucial match but missed out due to net run rate.

His remarkable performance also boosted his position in the ICC T20I Batting Rankings. He climbed to second place, which is the highest ranking of his career so far.
Farhan’s performance was outstanding. He broke records and showed consistency. But the team result was disappointing. Individual success did not turn into team victory.
