London (Web Desk): Pakistan pacer Mohammad Abbas reaches 900 first-class wickets at Lord’s after dismissing England openers Emilio Gay and Ben Duckett during the second Test.

Abbas strikes twice at Lord’s

Abbas made an immediate impact after Pakistan opted to bowl first at Lord’s.

Emilio Gay was caught by wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan down the leg side after scoring eight runs.

Abbas then dismissed Duckett lbw for 17 off 20 balls to complete the milestone.

The two early wickets gave Pakistan a strong start with the ball and put pressure on England during the opening phase of the innings.

Veteran pacer enters elite Pakistan list

Abbas has now joined some of Pakistan’s most successful first-class bowlers.

Former Pakistan captain Imran Khan leads the list with 1,287 first-class wickets.

Wasim Akram is second with 1,042 wickets, followed by Sarfaraz Nawaz with 1,005.

Waqar Younis has 956 wickets, while Abbas has moved into fifth place with 900 wickets.

The achievement places Abbas among Pakistan’s leading first-class wicket-takers.

 

Abbas adds major milestone to career

Abbas made his Test debut in 2017 and has established himself as one of Pakistan’s experienced red-ball bowlers.

Before the Lord’s Test, he had taken 119 wickets in 31 Test matches at an average of 22.84.

His Test record also includes seven five-wicket hauls and one 10-wicket haul.

Abbas’ latest milestone came in his 222nd first-class match, highlighting his long and consistent career in the format.

Milestone comes against England

The timing of Abbas’ achievement makes the milestone particularly notable. He reached 900 first-class wickets against England at Lord’s, one of cricket’s most historic venues.

Pakistan pacers dominate first-class records

Imran Khan leads the country’s pacers with 1,287 wickets in 382 matches.

Wasim Akram follows with 1,042 wickets from 257 matches, while Sarfaraz Nawaz has 1,005 wickets in 299 matches.

Waqar Younis is next with 956 wickets from 228 matches.

Abbas has now moved into fifth place with 900 wickets in 222 matches.

Abbas among active Test players

Abbas’ 900 first-class wickets also place him among the leading active players who have represented their countries in Test cricket.

James Anderson leads the list with 1,181 first-class wickets.

Simon Harmer has 1,056 wickets, while Malinda Pushpakumara has 1,010.

Abbas follows with 900 wickets, ahead of Australia’s Nathan Lyon, who has 864.

The figures underline Abbas’ longevity and consistency across first-class cricket.

A major achievement at 36

Reaching 900 first-class wickets at the age of 36 is a significant achievement for Abbas. The milestone reflects the consistency and durability required to remain effective in first-class cricket over many seasons.
