(Web Desk): Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has resigned from the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) selection committee, according to sources.

Six players sent to England without consultation

According to sources, the PCB sent six players to England without consulting the selection committee.

The move reportedly became a major point of disagreement between Misbah and the board. Sources said Misbah was dissatisfied that the selection committee was not taken into confidence before the players were sent to England.

The development has raised questions about the decision-making process within Pakistan’s cricket setup. The selection committee plays an important role in recommending players and shaping the national squad for international assignments.

Differences emerge over player selection

Misbah’s resignation is being linked to growing differences over the selection of new players for the England Test series.

Sources said the former captain was unhappy with what he viewed as a lack of consultation. The disagreement reportedly centred on the selection process rather than the performance of individual players.

The latest development highlights the importance of coordination between the PCB, selection committee and team management. A lack of agreement among these bodies can create uncertainty around squad selection and preparations for major series.

Misbah’s role in Pakistan cricket

Misbah is one of Pakistan’s most prominent former Test captains and international cricketers.

He led Pakistan during an important period in Test cricket and remained involved in cricket-related responsibilities after ending his playing career. His experience has made him a significant figure in Pakistan cricket.

His departure from the selection committee comes as the PCB prepares the national team for important international commitments. The resignation could attract further attention as the board works on its plans for upcoming matches.

Selection decisions require coordination between board officials, selectors and team management to ensure that the squad meets the team’s requirements. When decisions are made without full consultation, disagreements can emerge over player roles and team combinations.

The reported dispute involving Misbah highlights the challenges the board can face while managing the national team. The PCB may now have to decide how the selection committee will operate following his resignation.

England Test series adds pressure

Pakistan’s Test series against England has added further importance to the selection process.

The national team needs to prepare carefully for the series, with player form, fitness and team balance among the factors likely to influence squad decisions. The reported arrival of six additional players in England has also brought the selection process into focus.

The board will now need to ensure that the team management has clear direction ahead of the upcoming matches. Misbah’s resignation comes at a crucial time for Pakistan cricket, with the PCB facing the task of maintaining stability and coordination within the selection setup.
