LAHORE (Web Desk): The International Cricket Board (ICC) has fined Babar Azam 10 percent of his match fee for violating code of conduct on third ODI against Sri Lanka.

Pakistan batting star Babar Azam violated the Article 2.2 of ICC code of conduct, it relates to the “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.”

He has been fined 10% of his match fee for level 1 violation of ICC code of conduct.

Additionally, a demerit point has also been added to his disciplinary record, making it first offence in history of his 24-month period.

This incident took place on the third ODI match of Pakistan against Sri Lanka in 21st over of Pakistan inning. Babar hits the stumps with his bat before he left the crease following his dismissal.

All the on-field, third and fourth umpire levelled the charge on Babar Azam, while Ali Naqvi from Emirates ICC International Panel of match referee proposed the sanction.

The Pakistani cricketer Babar Azam accepted the offence and sanction, negating the need for formal hearing.

Level 1 violation of ICC code of conduct carriers a minimum penalty, a maximum penalty of 50% of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.
