(Web Desk): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced to block all unregistered or non-approved mobile phone.

PTA has issued a strict warning to citizens across the country who are using unregistered or non-approved mobile phones. PTA has advised people to stop the misuse of unregistered mobile phones and warned that all such devices will soon be blocked from service.

According to PTA, a large number of mobile phones in Pakistan are being used without payment of customs duties or taxes, which is why these devices are commonly available at cheaper prices in the market. The authority emphasized that under the DIRBS system, only officially approved and registered devices will be allowed to operate on local networks.

The authority made it clear that unregistered phones are not only illegal but can also be blocked without notice, therefore such devices should be avoided when purchasing.
