(Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced an ambitious plan to build 300 grounds and sports complexes to promote sports culture and professional athletic development across the province.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has reaffirmed her government’s strong commitment to promoting sports among youth by announcing the construction of 300 new grounds and sports complexes across Punjab.

Addressing a ceremony related to sports development, CM Maryam Nawaz praised Punjab’s historic performance at the 35th National Games, where the province secured 126 medals after 37 years, calling it a remarkable achievement.

She said the provincial government is developing international-standard sports complexes and will financially support athletes through an expanded Sports Endowment Fund, which has been increased from Rs2 billion to Rs4 billion.

Highlighting the importance of sports, the chief minister said athletic activities foster discipline, teamwork, resilience, and healthy competition among young people. To institutionalize sports culture, the government has launched the “Khelta Punjab” program, aimed at talent identification and grassroots participation.

CM Maryam Nawaz announced the establishment of a Construction and Rehabilitation Department to build and restore playgrounds and gymnasiums throughout the province. She also revealed plans to revive sports festivals, organize competitions at the union council level, and launch the Punjab League.

To strengthen governance, 10 university students will be inducted into the Sports Advisory Council, while international coaches will be hired to train athletes, ensuring global exposure and professional skill development.
