BCCI invitation: Will Mohsin Naqvi attend IPL 2026 final and ICC meeting?
The PCB chairman will instead join the ICC Board meeting through video conference.
Several Pakistani media reports earlier claimed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India had personally invited Mohsin Naqvi for the IPL 2026 final in Ahmedabad. However, later reports clarified that no such special invitation was sent by the Indian cricket board.
According to reports, Mohsin Naqvi was never expected to travel to India for the Indian Premier League final at Narendra Modi Stadium on May 31. Sources said his participation was always linked only to the ICC Board of Directors meeting taking place alongside the tournament final.
The Pakistan Cricket Board chairman will attend the ICC meeting virtually under the organisation’s existing rules for members unable to travel. Reports also stated that two other ICC members would join the meeting online in the same manner.

The ICC meeting was originally planned in Doha last month but was delayed because of tensions in West Asia involving the USA and Iran. Cricket board officials, chief executives and senior ICC leadership are expected to participate in the important discussions.
One of the major topics at the meeting will reportedly be the future of ICC global broadcasting rights. The current media rights agreement with JioStar is expected to expire in 2027, making upcoming negotiations highly important for international cricket.
Reports further suggested that if Mohsin Naqvi had travelled to India, it would only have been for the ICC meeting and not for attending the IPL final ceremony. This clarification ended speculation surrounding claims of a special BCCI invitation for the Pakistani cricket official.

The development has also drawn attention on social media, where many users questioned reports circulated earlier regarding Naqvi’s possible visit to India. Pakistani cricket fans largely viewed the clarification as proof that several exaggerated claims had been spread without confirmation.
The latest clarification removed confusion about Mohsin Naqvi’s possible India visit. It also showed how quickly unverified cricket reports can spread across media and social platforms.
