NEW YORK: (Web Desk) Canada defeated Ireland by 12 runs as the latters failed to chase the 138-run target set by the formers on Friday.

The results came in the 13th match of the current T20 World Cup 2024 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York.

Ireland's skipper Paul Stirling won the toss and opted to bat first. The Irish bowlers removed the Canadians’ top order in the first nine overs for only 53 runs. Though it was a low-scoring encounter, yet Nicholas Kirton and Shreyas Movva saved their side as they combined for a crucial 75-run partnership providing Canada a defendable total.

Kirton missed his well-deserving half-century by just one run as he scored 49 runs off 35 balls.

However, Movva helped his team conclude their innings at 137-7.

For Ireland, Craig Young and Barry McCarthy took two wickets each while Gareth Delany and Mark Adair managed to get one each.
