After a detailed hearing by the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Tribunal, which found Saman guilty of violating the Emirates Cricket Board’s (ECB) Anti-Corruption Code, the decision to ban him was made.
It is important to mention that in September 2023, Saman was one of eight individuals charged for breaching anti-corruption regulations related to the 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 Cricket League. During the tournament, the cricketers tried to manipulate the matches. These attempts were the reasons for the charges, and such schemes, where they tried to manipulate the matches, were successfully thwarted by officials from the ICC and the ECB.

The violations of specific articles within the ECB Anti-Corruption Code were cited based on the tribunal s findings, including match-fixing, offering rewards for corrupt behaviour, and encouraging others to engage in corrupt activities. The tribunal deemed Saman guilty after reviewing written and oral evidence and imposed a five-year suspension on Saman from all cricket-related events.
Saman was provisionally suspended on 13 September 2023, and the ban is effective retroactively from this date. A seasoned cricketer, Saman played extensively at the domestic level, with over 100 first-class matches, 77 List A games, and 47 T20 matches to his name.
The ICC’s strong commitment to protecting the integrity of cricket has been demonstrated through this ruling, which also highlights the ICC’s continued efforts to combat corruption in sport.
