(Web Desk): The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has announced a 22-member preliminary squad for the 2025 Asia Cup and the upcoming tri-nation series, with Rashid Khan named as captain.

As per ACB, 22-member preliminary squad has been revealed for the 2025 Asia Cup and the upcoming Tri-Nation Series. The team will undergo a two-week training camp in the UAE, focusing on fitness, skill development, and match strategies as part of their preparation.

Rashid Khan, the star spinner, will lead the team as captain. Known as one of the best bowlers in T20 cricket, his leadership adds strength to the squad. Afghanistan’s bowling lineup is rich in spin options, including Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Noor Ahmad, Sharafuddin Ashraf, and Mohammad Nabi. This shows a clear “spin to win” strategy.

The fast-bowling unit looks strong as well, with Fazal Haq Farooqi, Naveen-ul-Haq, Azmatullah Omarzai, and Karim Janat bringing a balanced combination of pace and swing, which suits the conditions in the UAE perfectly.

In the batting lineup, Rahmanullah Gurbaz is likely to serve as wicketkeeper-batsman, supported by experienced players like Ibrahim Zadran and Darwish Rasooli. Young talents Sediqullah Atal and Wafiullah Tarakhil have been given a chance to prove themselves.

The final squad will be announced after the training camp ends later this month. With strong spin, improved pace, fresh batting talent, and solid leadership, Afghanistan looks ready to make a big impact in the upcoming tournaments.
