Hitting six consecutive sixes in an over is considered an incredible feat in cricket. But Akash, representing Meghalaya, went a step further by striking 8 back-to-back sixes against Arunachal Pradesh in a Ranji Trophy Plate Group match, setting a new benchmark in first-class cricket.
According to Indian media, Akash completed his half-century off just 11 balls in only 9 minutes — a record-breaking performance that left fans speechless. He hit 6 sixes in a single over and followed it up with 2 more in the next, with no boundaries other than his towering hits over the fence.
When Akash came to bat at number eight, his team was already cruising at 576 for 6. After a dot ball and two singles, he went on a rampage, smashing six consecutive sixes in one over — joining the elite company of cricket legends Garfield Sobers (1968) and Ravi Shastri (1985), the only other batters to achieve this in first-class cricket.
He then added two more sixes in the following over to reach his fifty off 11 balls — breaking the previous world record held by England’s Wayne White, who had scored a fifty in 12 balls in 2012.

Akash’s fiery innings contained no fours, only eight towering sixes — a performance that’s already being called one of the most explosive in domestic cricket history.
Akash Kumar’s record-breaking knock has rewritten cricket history. His power-hitting not only stunned spectators but also revived excitement in India’s domestic circuit. Cricket experts believe such performances could open doors for him in higher leagues, proving that fearless batting still defines the modern game.
