
His son confirmed the news of his passing. For a long time Wrestler Din Muhammad had been undergoing treatment in the hospital. After a prolonged illness at the age of over 100 he passed away. In February this year he had turned 100 years old.
In the 1954 Asian Games he won Pakistan s first-ever gold medal. To claim the title, he defeated wrestlers from the Philippines, Japan, and India. His historic victory brought international recognition to Pakistan in the world of sports.

Provincial Sports Minister Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar extended his condolences to Din Muhammad’s family and expressed extreme sorrow.
President of the Punjab Wrestling Association, Chaudhry Arshad Sattar, and President of the Lahore Wrestling Association, Mehr Akram alias Kala Pehlwan, also expressed sorrow over Din Muhammad’s demise.
Director General Sports Punjab, Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry, expressed profound grief and sorrow over the death of Pakistan s first international gold medalist wrestler Din Muhammad, stating that Din Muhammad was the country s first Asian gold medalist who raised the green crescent flag in global sports competitions.
Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry further stated that Din Muhammad’s services to sports will always be remembered. He prayed that may Allah grant Din Muhammad the highest rank in paradise and give patience to his family.
