Zubair defeats Arslan ‘Ash’ Siddique
One of the biggest moments came during the second group stage when Zubair defeated fellow Pakistani star Arslan ‘Ash’ Siddique.
The two players met again in the semifinal, where Zubair secured a thrilling 5-4 victory. The close match gave him a place in the grand final and ended Ash’s hopes of another major title.
Arslan is one of Pakistan’s best-known esports players and has built a strong reputation in the international Tekken community. His fourth-place finish came only weeks after another major achievement.
In June, Ash won the 2026 Evo tournament in Las Vegas. It was his fourth consecutive Evo title, strengthening his position among the world’s leading fighting game players.

Zubair faced South Korea’s LowHigh in the final, but the contest was far less competitive than his semifinal.
The Pakistani player delivered a powerful performance and swept LowHigh 5-0 to secure the championship. His victory earned him the Tekken 8 world title and a cash prize of $250,000.
The Esports World Cup celebrated the unexpected result on social media, saying, “He came out of nowhere and took the crown!”
