Arshad Nadeem gears up for Asian Athletics Championships

LAHORE: Javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem announced that he is preparing to compete and aim for victory in the upcoming Asian Athletics Championships, following his historic gold medal performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

In a video shared on his Instagram Stories, Nadeem said, “I will be competing tomorrow in South Korea at 6:15am Pakistan time.”

He mentioned that this would be his first competition since the Olympics last year. “Please keep me in your prayers so I can qualify for the finals,” he added.

He also noted that the final is scheduled for May 31 at 1:10pm PKT and requested prayers to help him win a medal and bring pride to Pakistan.

According to the official Olympics website, the 26th edition of the Championships will be held in South Korea and will feature over 2,000 athletes from 43 countries.

Last August, Nadeem set a new Olympic record with a 92.97-meter throw, securing a gold medal in the men’s javelin final in Paris.

Looking ahead, Nadeem is set to travel to England soon to train for the World Athletics Championships in September.
