(Web Desk): Pakistan weather alert: Rain, thunderstorms and strong winds are expected across the country until March 30, with Eid-ul-Fitr likely to see showers in many regions.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a nationwide weather alert, forecasting rain with strong winds and thunderstorms from March 24 to March 30. A western weather system is expected to intensify around March 27, increasing rainfall activity in multiple regions.

Citizens have been advised to take precautionary measures as gusty winds, lightning, and heavy showers may disrupt daily life and travel plans.

Balochistan Weather Update

Under the influence of the weather system, rainfall is expected in several districts of Balochistan, including:

  • Panjgur, Turbat, Kech, Awaran
  • Gwadar, Pasni, Ormara
  • Lasbela, Kharan, Khuzdar, Chagai, Dalbandin
  • Quetta, Barkhan, Naseerabad, Zhob, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin

Additional areas like Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Nushki, Harnai, Mastung, and Kalat may also experience rain and thunderstorms.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rain Forecast

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, widespread rain is expected from March 24 to 29, particularly in:

  • Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla
  • Kohistan, Malakand, Buner, Battagram
  • Mansehra, Abbottabad, Balakot
  • Mardan, Nowshera, Swabi, Charsadda, Kohat, Hangu

Rain is also likely in Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, and Dera Ismail Khan.

Punjab and Islamabad Weather Outlook

Rainfall is expected across Punjab and Islamabad, including:

  • Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Jhelum
  • Attock, Chakwal, Sargodha, Mianwali
  • Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh
  • Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal

Southern Punjab areas such as Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, and Bahawalnagar are also expected to receive rain between March 25 and 30.

Sindh Rain Forecast

In Sindh, intermittent rain is expected on March 25, 26, 28, and 29 in:

  • Karachi, Hyderabad
  • Sukkur, Dadu, Jacobabad, Larkana, Kashmore

Authorities warn of possible urban flooding and traffic disruptions in major cities.

Gilgit-Baltistan & AJK Weather

Rainfall is also expected in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir, with chances of snowfall in northern mountainous areas.

Eid-ul-Fitr 2026 Weather Forecast

According to PMD Director Irfan Virk, the current weather system will persist through Eid-ul-Fitr, bringing rain to several parts of Pakistan on Eid day.

  • Islamabad & Rawalpindi: Cloudy skies with light rain expected
  • Southern Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, KP: Rain likely in scattered areas
  • Some regions may experience fully overcast conditions

NDMA Issues Nationwide Alert

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather advisory for:

  • Punjab
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
  • Balochistan
  • Gilgit-Baltistan
  • Azad Kashmir

The alert warns of heavy rain, strong winds, and snowfall in northern regions, urging authorities to stay prepared.

Lahore Weather Update

In Lahore, cloudy conditions persist with:

  • Current temperature: 17°C
  • Expected high: 22°C, low: 13°C
  • Humidity: 85%
  • Wind speed: 5 km/h

Intermittent rain is expected, with partly cloudy skies continuing for the next few days.

Karachi Rain Damage Report

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh reported severe impacts from recent rains:

  • 20 deaths and 31 injuries in Karachi
  • Highest fatalities in Keamari (13) and Malir (3)
  • Additional casualties in Karachi East, West, and South
  • 79 houses damaged across the province

Officials have urged residents to remain cautious during upcoming rain spells.

Authorities advise:
