Heavy rain forecast across Punjab
Punjab is expected to receive its ninth and final monsoon spell, with rain forecast across most districts until September 17. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has warned residents to remain alert as rainfall may become intense in several areas.
The PDMA said heavy rain could put pressure on drainage systems in major cities. Low-lying areas may face a higher risk of urban flooding if the drainage network cannot handle the rainfall.
Landslide warning for hilly areas
The authority has also warned about possible landslides in Murree, the Galiyat region and other mountainous areas. Continuous or heavy rain could make slopes unstable and increase risks for people travelling through these areas.
Residents in hilly locations have been advised to take precautions during the latest weather spell. Travellers should also remain careful near areas that are vulnerable to landslides.
Rain expected in Sindh
Several districts of Sindh are also likely to receive rainfall during the same period. Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Hyderabad and Khairpur may receive rain from this evening until September 16.
Karachi is also expected to receive rain from tomorrow until September 16. The forecast has prompted authorities to advise people in vulnerable areas to remain prepared.
