(Web Desk): Astronomers in Pakistan have predicted likely dates for Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha 2026, based on extensive scientific moon sighting calculations.

Astronomical experts have revealed predicted dates for major Islamic events in Pakistan, offering an early outlook on the Islamic calendar for 2026, subject to moon sighting verification. Using scientific calculations, they have provided tentative moon-sighting dates for the holy months and festivals.

According to renowned astronomer Dr Faheem Hashmi, the Ramadan moon is expected to be sighted on February 18, which makes February 19 the likely first day of fasting across Pakistan.

He explained that scientific lunar observations and modern astronomical calculations strongly support this projected timeline for the start of Ramadan.

Dr Hashmi further stated that the Shawwal moon is expected to be visible on March 20, meaning Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to be celebrated on March 21, if weather conditions allow.

Regarding Eid-ul-Adha, astronomical data suggests that the month of Dhul-Hijjah may begin on May 17, placing Eid-ul-Adha on May 27, 2026.

Experts emphasized that these projections are based on scientific modeling and astronomical visibility, not religious rulings.

Pakistan’s official moon sighting committees will issue final announcements after physical moon observations, in line with Islamic tradition.

Religious scholars and astronomers have advised citizens to use these predicted dates for planning worship, travel, and business activities, while awaiting official confirmation.

They reiterated that moon sighting remains the final authority to avoid religious ambiguity and ensure national unity during Islamic festivals.
