(Web Desk): Oman has introduced stricter entry rules mandating verification for Pakistani and foreign workers to curb fake documents and regulate the labour market.

The Sultanate of Oman has announced new employment and entry regulations for foreign workers, including Pakistanis, aiming to strengthen workforce quality and eliminate the use of forged qualifications.

Under the revised framework, expatriate workers must now verify educational and professional credentials before entering Oman. The rules apply primarily to regulated professions, including engineering, logistics, accounting, and other skilled sectors.

Applicants will be required to complete a pre-arrival assessment, during which their qualifications will be reviewed by approved sector-specific skills units. Only candidates who successfully pass the verification process will be issued a work practice licence.

Omani authorities clarified that entry permits will only be granted after licence approval, ensuring that workers meet professional standards before arrival.

Officials warned that submitting fake or forged documents could result in severe penalties, including permanent bans, heavy fines, licence cancellation, deportation, and legal action. Employers found facilitating violations will also face strict penalties.

The new policy reflects Oman’s broader labour market reforms, designed to protect economic integrity, improve productivity, and ensure compliance with international employment standards.
