A fresh weather system entering Pakistan from the west has triggered widespread rainfall across Punjab, including Lahore, Faisalabad, Kasur, Sargodha, Bahawalnagar, Hasilpur, and other districts. The early morning rain, accompanied by cool winds, has made the weather pleasantly chilly, while electricity supply was disrupted in multiple areas due to tripped power feeders.

In Lahore, heavy showers affected key areas including Shimla Pahari, The Mall, Davis Road, Lakshmi Chowk, Civil Secretariat, Sanda Road, and Chauburji. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasted intermittent rain throughout the day, with temperatures ranging between a minimum of 15°C and a maximum of 25°C. Humidity reached 67%, with winds blowing at 11 km/h, further adding to the cool weather.

The Punjab Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has placed staff on high alert to ensure proper drainage and prevent waterlogging. According to PMD, more rain is expected today and tomorrow, while dry weather may prevail in other parts of the country for the next 12 hours. Isolated thunderstorms, accompanied by wind and hail, are also possible in Upper Punjab, Islamabad, Upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Temperatures recorded this morning in major cities included Islamabad at 16°C, Lahore at 22°C, Karachi at 25°C, Peshawar at 19°C, Quetta at 10°C, Gilgit at 12°C, Murree at 8°C, and Muzaffarabad at 15°C. The rainfall has not only brought relief from warm conditions but also enhanced air quality and added moisture to farmlands across southern and central Punjab.

Officials have advised residents to remain cautious of slippery roads and localized flooding, while electricity authorities are working to restore power in affected areas.
