Rain forecast brings relief from heat
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast rain in several parts of the country, offering the possibility of temporary relief from rising temperatures and hot weather conditions.
According to the Met Office, Lahore remained partly cloudy on Wednesday, with chances of isolated rainfall in some areas of the city. The current temperature was recorded at 32 degrees Celsius, while the daytime maximum is expected to reach 36 degrees Celsius.
Weather officials said rain is likely in various districts of Punjab until June 5, which could make conditions more pleasant in several areas. Wind speed in Lahore was recorded at 8 kilometres per hour, while humidity stood at 47 percent.
Despite the possibility of cooler weather, air pollution remains a concern. Lahore recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 171, placing it among the world's most polluted cities. Authorities have advised sensitive groups to take precautions when spending extended periods outdoors.
The Met Office said Islamabad is expected to experience hot weather during the day, followed by thunderstorms and light rain in the evening. Strong winds may help reduce the intensity of the heat. Cloud cover is also expected to increase over Islamabad and Rawalpindi later in the day, with rainfall potentially affecting traffic flow during evening hours.
Meanwhile, Karachi is likely to remain hot and humid, with partly cloudy skies throughout the day. The maximum temperature in the city could reach 37 degrees Celsius. Weather officials said humidity levels remain high at around 75 percent, making temperatures feel significantly warmer than the actual reading.
Forecasters have warned that while rain may provide short-term relief, temperatures could rise again in the coming days as summer conditions persist across much of the country.
