Pakistan’s weather department has forecast rain and thunderstorms in several parts of the country today, bringing possible relief from the heat but also raising concerns about weather-related risks.

Islamabad, Kashmir and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are likely to receive rain, while parts of Gilgit-Baltistan may experience showers under partly cloudy skies.

In Islamabad, the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy during the day, with rain possible in the evening. The morning temperature was recorded at 23°C, while the maximum temperature may reach 34°C. Winds are expected to blow at around 11 km/h, with humidity above 71%.

Karachi is likely to remain cloudy and humid, with drizzle possible at night. The minimum temperature was recorded at 28.1°C, while the current temperature stood at 29°C. The maximum temperature is expected to remain between 32°C and 34°C, with humidity at 75%.

Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to receive thunderstorms and rain from August 13 to 15. Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra and Abbottabad are among the areas likely to receive rain.

Mardan, Swabi, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Khyber, Mohmand and Kurram may also experience showers.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has warned of landslides in vulnerable mountainous areas and urban flooding in low-lying parts of Mardan and Swabi.

Authorities have been directed to closely monitor rivers, streams and drainage channels to prevent possible emergencies.
