Rain brings relief from heat across Punjab, more expected
Rainfall in Lahore and various parts of Punjab on Thursday provided much-needed relief from the recent intense heat spell. Cloudy skies and cooler temperatures improved weather conditions, making the atmosphere more pleasant for residents.
Light rain, accompanied by dense cloud cover, was reported in several areas of Lahore, including Abbott Road, Model Road and Islampura. The showers helped lower temperatures and brought a noticeable improvement in the weather.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Lahore’s temperature was recorded at 31°C. The minimum temperature remained 29°C, while the maximum temperature is expected to reach 36°C later in the day. Heavy rainfall was also reported in Gujrat, Jhelum, and other cities. The downpour caused water accumulation in low-lying areas and on several roads and streets, creating difficulties for commuters.

Officials said that several electricity feeders tripped during the rain, resulting in temporary power outages in different localities. The Met Office has forecast more rain in the upper parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Upper Dir, Swat, Kohistan, and Waziristan, as the weather system continues to influence the region.
In Balochistan, rainfall is also expected in Khuzdar, Kohlu, and Barkhan. Weather experts say the current system could bring additional showers to various parts of the country over the coming days. The latest rainfall has brought welcome relief for people struggling with high temperatures. However, authorities are also monitoring the risk of urban flooding and power disruptions in affected areas.
