Rain brings relief as temperatures drop across Pakistan
Rainfall in different parts of Pakistan turned the weather pleasant overnight, bringing relief to citizens struggling with intense summer heat.
Several areas of Lahore received light to moderate rain, including Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate, Township, Maulana Shaukat Ali Road, PECO Road, Kacha Jail Road, Kot Lakhpat and nearby localities. Cool winds started blowing soon after the showers, resulting in a noticeable drop in temperatures.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Lahore's current temperature was recorded at 30 degrees Celsius, while humidity levels stood at 53 percent. Wind speed was measured at around 6 kilometres per hour.
Weather officials said the maximum temperature in the city is expected to reach 36 degrees Celsius during the day, while the minimum temperature is likely to remain around 28 degrees Celsius.
The Met Office added that intermittent rainfall may continue in Lahore and surrounding areas over the next several hours.
The rain also improved weather conditions in various other cities, where residents welcomed the cooler temperatures after days of hot and humid conditions.
Experts believe the ongoing weather system could provide temporary relief from the heatwave affecting several regions of the country. However, they advised citizens to remain cautious during periods of heavy rain and avoid unnecessary travel in low-lying areas vulnerable to water accumulation.
Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and have urged people to stay updated through official weather advisories for the latest forecasts and safety guidelines.
