The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a seasonal forecast predicting active rainfall patterns across the country over the next three months. Higher rainfall activity is expected in lower Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, northern Balochistan, and western Punjab, signaling a busier late-winter to early-spring season.

PMD’s probability outlook highlights heavier precipitation in western and central KP and northern to central Balochistan, while rainfall in Gilgit-Baltistan, Sindh, and southern Balochistan is expected to remain near seasonal norms. Northern Gilgit-Baltistan may receive comparatively less rain during the same period.
The forecast is based on eight global seasonal prediction models, with major climate drivers remaining neutral. The Indian Ocean Dipole is expected to stay neutral, and ENSO is projected to shift from marginally negative to neutral. PMD also predicts above-normal temperatures nationwide, particularly in northern areas, warning of potential early heatwave risks during dry breaks in March and April.
