PDMA monsoon rains report reveals the true scale of destruction
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan has released a report on the human and property losses caused by monsoon rains across the province. The report covers the damage recorded over the past two months.
According to PDMA Balochistan, eight people, including four children, lost their lives during the recent spell of heavy rains. A total of 16 people, including 13 children, were injured after lightning strikes and the collapse of walls and roofs.
The report said a man and a woman died in Kohlu after a lightning strike and the collapse of a wall. In Khuzdar, two people, including a child, lost their lives due to lightning and a roof collapse.
In Zhob, four people, including three children, died after lightning strikes and roof collapses. These incidents highlight the serious risks created by severe weather during the monsoon season.
The report also said 16 people, including 13 children and two women, were injured when roofs collapsed. Heavy rains and flash floods damaged 41 houses, with 17 homes completely destroyed and 24 partially damaged in Khuzdar, Zhob, Harnai and Barkhan.
Meanwhile, PDMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has also released its latest damage report. It covers losses caused by heavy rains and flash floods since 19 July.
According to PDMA KP, 28 people have died and 29 others have been injured after roofs and walls collapsed during heavy rains and flash floods. Those who lost their lives include 10 men, 15 children and three women, while the injured include 13 men, nine women and seven children.
The report further said heavy rains and flash floods damaged 47 houses across the province. Out of these, 37 houses suffered partial damage, while 10 houses were completely destroyed.
The latest reports show that the monsoon season is continuing to cause serious damage in different parts of Pakistan. Authorities have urged people living in vulnerable areas to stay alert and follow official weather advisories.
The reports show that heavy rains are affecting both lives and property across multiple provinces. If more rainfall continues, the risk of further damage may increase, making safety measures and early warnings even more important.
