Heavy rains and storms kill 10 in Pakistan
At least 10 people have lost their lives and several others have been injured in rain-related incidents across different parts of Pakistan after strong winds, thunderstorms, and heavy rainfall caused widespread damage and disruption.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), nine people died in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the past 24 hours due to weather-related incidents. The victims included five men, two women, and two children.
Officials said incidents were reported in Dera Ismail Khan, Upper Dir, Kohat, and Orakzai. Severe weather also damaged at least four houses, adding to the difficulties faced by residents. In Punjab, dust storms followed by light to heavy rainfall affected several cities. The changing weather created dangerous conditions in some areas and disrupted daily life.

At Kot Qaisrani, several passengers became stranded in a rain-swollen stream after rising water levels blocked their route. Rescue teams launched an operation and safely evacuated 10 people who were travelling on a tractor-trolley. In Faisalabad, five people were injured when the roof of a house collapsed on Kukianwala Road during the storm. In a separate incident in Mian Channu, one person was killed, while more than 10 others, including children, were injured in storm-related accidents.
Meteorological authorities have warned that the current spell of rain and stormy weather is likely to continue until June 22. Officials fear that further rainfall could lead to additional damage, travel disruptions, and safety risks in vulnerable areas. Authorities have advised citizens to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather, and follow safety instructions issued by local administrations and rescue services.
