Heavy rain spell to hit Pakistan from today as weather turns unstable
A fresh and powerful spell of rain is expected to begin across Pakistan from Wednesday, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasting intermittent showers and thunderstorms in several regions over the next two to three days.
According to the PMD, Islamabad is likely to remain hot and dry during the daytime, but clouds are expected to develop later in the evening, increasing the chances of rain and thunderstorms. The latest forecast suggests that wet weather will continue at intervals across the federal capital until the weekend.
The temperature in Islamabad was recorded at 31°C on Wednesday morning and is expected to rise to 42°C during the day. Winds are likely to blow at around 6 km/h, while humidity has been recorded at more than 42 percent.
The weather department also predicted rain accompanied by thunder in Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and the upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where localized heavy downpours are possible in some areas.
Meanwhile, Karachi is expected to experience partly cloudy skies, with light drizzle possible at isolated locations. Intermittent strong winds are also forecast, providing some relief from the humid weather.
The port city recorded a temperature of 31°C, with the maximum expected to remain between 34°C and 36°C, while the minimum was 29°C. Southwesterly winds are blowing at 18 km/h, and humidity stands at 72 percent.
The PMD said Karachi's air quality remains satisfactory, with pollution levels staying below the safety threshold. Authorities have advised residents to stay updated with weather alerts, especially in areas vulnerable to heavy rainfall, urban flooding, and strong winds over the coming days.
