Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Kohat, Karak, Mianwali and Dunyapur received heavy rain accompanied by strong winds. Several low-lying areas were inundated, while hailstorms were also reported in some locations.

Rain was also reported in Jhang, Chashma, Dera Khan, Kacha Gujrat, Pailan and nearby areas. In Kundian, rainwater entered homes, leaving streets and neighbourhoods waterlogged.

The weather caused disruptions to daily life and affected electricity supplies in several areas. Power feeders tripped in some locations, leaving residents without electricity for several hours.

Rawalpindi activates emergency response

The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) in Rawalpindi activated a rain emergency following heavy rainfall. Field officers were mobilised, while WASA teams and heavy machinery were deployed in low-lying areas to deal with accumulated rainwater.

Officials said the water flow in Nullah Lai remained within normal limits despite the heavy rainfall. Water levels were reported at around 5 feet at Kattarian and 2 feet near the Gawalmandi Bridge.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has recently warned of isolated rain and thunderstorms in Islamabad, upper Punjab and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with heavy showers and hail possible in some areas.

The latest spell has raised concerns about urban flooding, particularly in low-lying areas, as authorities continue monitoring rainfall and water levels.
