Heavy rain and hailstorm alert issued for multiple cities across Pakistan
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast heavy rainfall and hailstorms in several parts of the country over the coming days, urging citizens to remain cautious as unstable weather conditions are expected to affect multiple regions.
According to the latest weather advisory, parts of Punjab are likely to receive heavy rain and hail today. Islamabad is expected to experience rainfall during the evening, while showers and thunderstorms are also forecast in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Okara, Kasur, Multan, Khanewal and several other districts.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, heavy rain and hailstorms are predicted in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Malakand, Kohistan, Bajaur, Battagram, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber, Waziristan, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Mansehra and Haripur.
Meanwhile, most parts of Sindh are expected to remain hot and dry. However, rain is likely in Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Dadu, Ghotki, Kashmore and Shikarpur.
In Balochistan, southern districts are expected to continue experiencing intense heat, while rainfall is forecast in Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Chaman, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Barkhan, Dera Bugti, Naseerabad, Kohlu, Musakhel and Khuzdar.
The Met Office has warned that heavy downpours could cause waterlogging in low-lying areas and affect traffic flow. Strong winds and hail may also damage weak structures, trees, solar panels and power lines.
Authorities have advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather and stay updated through official forecasts and emergency advisories.
