Floods disrupt life in Ghizer

Heavy rain triggered flash floods in parts of Ghizer early Saturday, damaging homes, crops and agricultural land.

The sudden flooding disrupted daily life and caused damage in several communities. Homes, orchards and farmland were among the areas affected.

Naubahar village was one of the worst-hit locations. Floodwater damaged the Gushgush Jamaat Khana and destroyed crops, fruit trees and farmland.

Residents are now facing difficulties as damaged roads and infrastructure have affected movement in the region.

Roads blocked after flooding and landslides

Flooding also blocked the road between Immit and Barjangle, leaving residents calling for urgent action to restore the route.

The floods also damaged electricity transmission lines, raising concerns about power supplies in the affected areas.

Meanwhile, the Karakoram Highway (KKH) was closed between Sost and Khunjerab Top after landslides blocked the important route.

Authorities have been working to remove debris and reopen the road for traffic.

The closure is particularly important because the Karakoram Highway connects several remote areas and serves as a major route for residents and travellers.

Hunza route reopened

In Hunza, another section of the Karakoram Highway was affected by landslides.

The road between Murtazaabad and Hassanabad was temporarily blocked, disrupting traffic in the area.

However, the route was later reopened after authorities cleared the landslide debris.

The reopening has allowed traffic to resume, although authorities remain alert because further rain could trigger more landslides.

First snowfall at Babusar Top

The weather also brought the first snowfall of the season to Babusar Top in Diamer on Saturday.

Despite the snowfall, traffic on Babusar Road remained normal, according to the available information.

The combination of heavy rain, flash floods, landslides and snowfall highlights the rapidly changing weather conditions across Gilgit-Baltistan.
