Heatwave grips Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi
Hot and humid weather is likely to continue in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department warning residents to take precautions against intense summer heat.
According to the weather department, Islamabad is expected to remain hot and humid throughout the day. A few areas may receive brief rain accompanied by thunder early in the morning, while partly cloudy skies are expected later. The maximum temperature in the federal capital could reach 39°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 26°C.
Forecasters have warned that the heat will intensify during the afternoon hours. Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight and stay hydrated to reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses.
In Lahore, no rainfall is expected during the next 24 hours. The city is likely to experience hot and dry weather with partly cloudy skies. The maximum temperature is forecast at 38°C, while the minimum temperature could remain around 28°C.
Light winds are expected to blow across the city, and humidity levels may stay high at around 78 percent, adding to discomfort despite the absence of rain.
Meanwhile, Karachi is also expected to witness hot and humid conditions. The temperature reached 31°C in the morning, while the heat index made it feel closer to 37°C. The maximum temperature in the city is likely to rise to 36°C later in the day.
The Meteorological Department has urged people to drink plenty of water, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and take preventive measures against heat stress, especially those working outdoors.
