Deadly KP rains leave 14 dead as fresh weather alert raises concern

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), heavy rain and flash floods have killed 14 people and injured 19 others in weather-related incidents since July 19. The victims include six men, six children, and two women.

The injured include 11 men, four women and four children. Rescue teams and relief agencies are continuing their work to help people in the affected areas.

The bad weather also damaged 28 houses across the province. Of these, 22 homes were partially damaged, while 6 were destroyed by the floods.

The districts affected by the rain and flash floods include Peshawar, Nowshera, Khyber, Mardan, Buner, Bajaur, Shangla, Swabi, Chitral, Lower Dir and Upper Dir.

PDMA said that the water level in all major rivers, streams and drains is currently normal. However, the authority has warned that the current spell of rain is likely to continue, with breaks, until July 23, and that people should remain cautious.

The latest figures show that heavy rains continue to pose a serious risk in many parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Although water levels are normal for now, more rainfall could create fresh challenges. Officials are closely monitoring the situation while rescue and relief efforts continue.
