A severe cold wave is currently sweeping across Pakistan, and Karachi has also felt its sharp impact as temperatures dropped to single digits, surprising residents of the usually mild coastal city.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the minimum temperature in Karachi was recorded at 9.3 degrees Celsius, making it one of the coldest nights of the season. The weather department said that dry conditions are likely to persist over the next 24 hours, while nights and early mornings will remain particularly cold.
The PMD further forecast that the minimum temperature in the city is expected to stay between 10 and 12 degrees Celsius in the coming days. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature is likely to range from 24 to 26 degrees Celsius, offering some daytime relief from the biting cold.

Meteorologists also reported that the humidity level in the air stands at 44 percent, which adds to the dry and chilly feel of the weather. Light northeasterly winds are blowing across the city at a speed of around 7 kilometers per hour, contributing to the cold sensation, especially during nighttime.
The cold spell has prompted residents to take extra precautions, particularly for children, the elderly, and those living in poorly insulated homes. Health experts advise wearing warm clothing, avoiding unnecessary exposure to cold air at night, and staying hydrated despite the dry weather.
