(Web Desk): Cold and dry weather will prevail across Pakistan, while light rain and snowfall are expected in northern areas as the Met Office issues a fresh 24-hour forecast.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has released its latest 24-hour weather forecast, predicting continued cold and dry conditions across most parts of the country, with severe cold expected in hilly regions.

According to the Met Office, northern Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Kashmir are likely to experience partly cloudy to cloudy weather. Light rain and snowfall are expected at isolated locations, particularly in mountainous areas.

The PMD reported that most regions across Pakistan remained cold and dry over the past 24 hours, while hilly areas continued to face freezing temperatures. Light rain and snowfall were recorded in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and northern Balochistan, adding to the winter chill.

Lowest Temperatures Recorded Across Pakistan

The coldest temperatures recorded include Leh at -9°C, Gopis at -7°C, and Astor and Kalam at -6°C. Malam Jabba and Skardu reported -4°C, while Ziarat recorded -3°C. Parachinar, Hunza, and Qalat experienced minimum temperatures of -2°C.

Major Cities Temperature Update

In major urban centers, Islamabad recorded 5°C, Lahore 7°C, Peshawar 6°C, and Karachi 12°C. Quetta remained chilly at 2°C, while Murree saw freezing conditions at 0°C. Muzaffarabad recorded a minimum temperature of 3°C.

Meteorologists advise residents, especially in northern and mountainous regions, to take precautionary measures due to cold temperatures, potential snowfall, and reduced visibility. Travelers are urged to stay updated with official weather advisories before heading to high-altitude areas.
