PDMA alerts Rain in Punjab until February 3

Web Desk: Rain in Punjab is expected from today until February 3, and the PDMA alert has been issued for authorities and citizens to stay prepared.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has put all relevant departments on alert after forecasting rain and snowfall in Murree, Galiyat, and surrounding areas.

The alert is valid from today until February 3, as cold weather is set to intensify. The PDMA alert aims to ensure timely response to any emergencies.

Rain in Punjab is also expected in the Potohar region, including Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, and Gujranwala. Central districts like Multan, Jhang, Sargodha, and Faisalabad may see partly cloudy skies with light drizzle in some areas after noon. The PDMA alert has been shared with local administrations to prepare for possible disruptions.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said a new weather system entered Punjab last night and will affect districts including Rawalpindi, Sargodha, and Faisalabad.

Temperatures are expected to drop, with Lahore seeing a minimum of 9°C and a maximum of 21°C. Officials warn that rain in Punjab combined with colder temperatures may affect travel and daily routines.

All emergency control rooms have been instructed to remain operational 24/7. PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia said district administrations in Murree have been put on high alert to handle snowfall.

Tourists visiting hill stations are advised to take precautions and follow official instructions. Facilitation centres have been set up to assist visitors. This is part of the ongoing PDMA alert for the region.

Partly cloudy to overcast conditions with light rain and snowfall are forecast in Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and northern Balochistan.

Cold and dry weather is expected in most districts of Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, while very cold conditions will continue in mountainous regions. Residents are advised to stay informed about rain in Punjab and follow safety guidance under the PDMA alert.
