
According to the latest forecast, over the next 24 hours, rain is expected in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, eastern Punjab, the Pothohar region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, and northern Balochistan.
The Met Office says these areas are likely to experience partly cloudy skies, with chances of thunderstorms, gusty winds, and hail at isolated spots. Strong winds and dust storms have also been predicted for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, and Balochistan.
Yesterday, heavy rain lashed cities including Pattoki, Okara, Chishtian, Chichawatni, and Bahawalnagar, bringing welcome relief from the scorching heat. Low-lying areas in Pattoki were inundated, while a sandstorm in Darya Khan uprooted trees.
In Karachi, the effects of westerly winds have already kicked in. Light rain in Surjani, Sohrab Goth, and Gulshan-e-Maymar brought a noticeable dip in temperatures, with more showers expected today.

Meanwhile, the season’s first summer rain in Hub and surrounding areas brought smiles to residents faces. However, the plains continue to sizzle under extreme heat. The mercury soared to 49°C in Turbat and Pasni, 48°C in Jacobabad, 47°C in Bahawalnagar, and 46°C in Sibi, Sukkur, Rohri, and Mohenjo-Daro.
The PMD has urged the public to take precautionary measures during the rainy spell, especially those living in low-lying areas.
