
Heavy rainfall is predicted by the flood forecast in the upper catchments of these rivers between September 2 and 3. Ongoing rains in India, especially in Madhya Pradesh, have further increased the threat of disastrous flooding in Pakistan.
The authorities have particularly cautioned that low-lying regions of Sialkot and Narowal are at serious danger. Locals have been asked to stay on high alert and abide by precautions issued by the Board of Revenue and the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
The report points out that the Sutlej River at Ganda Singh Wala will continue with exceptionally high flood levels, whereas in the Chenab River at Trimmu, extremely high levels are anticipated in the next 24 hours. In Panjnad, the Chenab will reach very high flood levels by September 3.
District governments in Punjab have been ordered to remain on alert. Main efforts are the 24/7 operation of emergency centers, the activation of flood warning systems, the creation of evacuation plans, the deployment of rescue personnel, and the further reinforcement of embankments.

Relief and medical camps are established and foodstuffs, clean drinking water, and medication for displaced families are stored. Livestock relocation with veterinary assistance has also been organized.
Chief Secretary Punjab directed all departments to be best prepared, emphasizing that coordination in time and stringent safety measures are essential to reduce the impact of the disaster.
